| SOLD OUT | past event: a tommie talk celebrating ethical + sustainable fashion, conscious living and female change makers

from $15.00

We are super excited to announce that we’ve been invited to take part in TURN OUT a two day ‘fete for grown ups’. As part of this one off event being held at The Australian Technology Park, we’re gathering leaders on ethical and sustainable fashion + living to speak on our all female panel.

Our discussion will look at some of the issues and topics that are often not talked about in traditional media. Here at tommie we’re all about addressing some of the more difficult questions that you might not know where to look for answers. We believe through collaboration, consciousness and connection we can work together to learn, grow and evolve to ultimately create a community where we are all celebrated!

Our April community event earlier this year was a complete sell out, so we hope to see some familiar faces and meet new ladies at this event, too! But get in quick, as tickets sell very quickly!

We’ll be discussing conscious consumerism and how to be an activist through your shopping behaviour, the future of fashion - the circular fashion economy and how businesses with a share economy approach are crucial, we’ll chat about ethical designers and what is involved by choosing to produce locally vs offshore and we’ll look at some of the more political, cultural and societal issues of fashion like representation, accessibility and inclusivity.

Our guest speakers include:

Dusk Devi - Photographer, writer + theorist on representation and race relations in fashion, media + culture.

Annie Hamilton - Founder + Designer of ‘Annie Hamilton’ womenswear brand; specialising in locally made ‘maximalist prints and minimalist shapes’.

Emily Kate Symes - Ecopreneuer + founder of ‘Ekoluv’ Australia’s first Zero Waste Sustainable, Dress Hire + Consignment boutique.

Rachel Rutt - An advocate + ambassador of the handmade revolution. Mender, weaver, knitter + slow maker.

Stephanie Devine - Ecopreneur, founder + designer of ‘The Very Good Bra’, the worlds first zero waste, compostable bra.
